This beauty is seriously a piece of true Indian Gold Dust. Highly sought after by collectors, this standard of Anokhi dress rarely comes up for sale. She is a really exceptional example of Anokhi and dates from the mid-late 1970s. Currently, one of these beautiful dresses is on display at the Anokhi museum in Jaipur, India.
She has the most stunning cut, the attention to detail and craftsmanship on this beauty really is undefeated. She has a stunning pintucked bodice, which creates the most flattering ruched effect, purple satin piping, quilted panels, a super full skirt with quilted hem and billowing sleeves with beautiful quilted fixed cuffs, which have been clipped in to hold shape on the mannequin. She has ties to her neckline, along with hook an eyes for closure, her original and beautiful beads are still attached.
Her fabric is the finest and most vibrant indian cotton gauze, with a medley of blues, green and purples. She has the most beautiful gold stamping throughout. Her quilted bodice and hem are beautiful with block printed and gold stamped features.
This beauty really is a once in a lifetime purchase. I sourced her from the daughter of the original owner. She is the most precious piece we have ever had the honour of sourcing and selling to date. She is a true collectors piece.
This girl measures to approx UK size 10/12.
Bust - 36"
Empire Line - 30" - 31"
Length - 55.5"
Shoulder to Shoulder - 17"
For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.
Please have this gorgeous lady dry cleaned only. She is in goodvintage condition, the only thing to note is she has a mark on the back of her bodice panel, this is actually minor and may lift with a specialist clean. Her colours are still vivacious and vibrant. There are a few scattered faint small fade marks on the quilted panel at her hem. Otherwise, excellent and seems barely worn, for a dress of this calibre these flaws are minor. See photos for more.
Please note all Indian Cotton Gauze dresses carry signs of wear due to delicacy of the fabric and the dyes used. No item is ever perfect and will carry charm of its previous life, all main flaws will be noted.
This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.
Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements. Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
