The MacGregor, she is the iconic 80s Laura Ashley wool riding coat dress. She is not lined.
The MacGregor is a beauty. She is midaxi in length with stunning puff mutton sleeves, velvet collar and cuffs and button down front. This is one of Laura Ashley's most iconic designs of the decade.
This girl measures to a UK size 12/14.
Bust - 38"
Waist - 34"
Length - 52"
For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.
The MacGregor has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. Please have this beauty dry cleaned only. She is in goodvintage condition, she does have some small damage, she has got several darned up really small holes and a few pin sized prick holes which have been backed onto fusible interfacing on the inside to keep them secure - this cannot be seen from the outside. These are all to the lower half of the dress and have been repaired well. These really are minor and barely noticeable. She is still in good, strong and wearable condition, this has been hugely reflected in her price. In perfect condition this dress could easily reach £160-£180. Please see last four photos, the first two are of the inside of the dress, showing how the interfacing is patched over the pin sized small holes, securing them and the last two are photos of two of the small darned holes, one of which is at the hem and the other is on the lower side, near the side seam.
This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear. But please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.
Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements. Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
