Meet Mahogany, she is an utterly stunning 1970s cotton prairie dream in a beautiful rich brown shade by Laura Ashley, Made in Wales c.1970s. This is a very rare and special dress, and probably one of my favourite LA's sourced to date. Brown is such a wearable colour, and it is rare to see on LA's like this one. She has a gorgeous sweet delicate floral print in a lighter brown creamy tone, beautiful lace placements and trims and that gorgeous scoop neck silhouette we all love. She has a super full swooshing skirt with flounce, gorgeous 3/4 length sleeves which are slightly puffed with ruffle cuffs and attached side ties to cinch the waist. She is beautiful, collectible and timeless, and she is absolutely the star of the show from this week's edit. I cannot wait to see where she is headed today..
This girl would work on UK sizes 8/10 small 12 best.
Bust - up to 35" - 36"
Waist - 30" - can be cinched with side ties.
Length - 54"
For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.
The Mahogany has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. She can safely be washed at home on a cool setting. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear. Like ALL early Laura Ashley pieces, she does have some minor flaws, to be honest compare to some I have had these flaws are very minor. She has a couple of fade spots (see last two photos), they are tiny and irrelevant and a couple of slight marks to her lace. Her lace has a creamy tinge, I am not sure if it was made this way or has darkened over time , and regardless, this is minor and looks stunning.
This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.
