Meet Tudor, she is an absolutely outstanding and rare late 60s early 70s chiffon dream dress by Jean Varon, although she is sadly unlabelled, she is also lined. This is honestly a DREAM dress! Jean Varon is one of the most collectible designers of the time, and I am so overjoyed to have been able to confirm authenticity. She has the most remarkable silhouette, with huge lantern sleeves, statement frill collar and a double layered swooshing skirt. Her bodice is crafted in gorgeous chunky cotton lace which is mirrored down her sleeves, cuffs and also on the hem of her skirt. Her collar is hard to describe, it is a plum maroon shade, which is simply gorgeous, it was really hard to catch it on photograph. Tudor is one of those dresses which really is a spectacle and a true Heirloom, she is a statement and will make an entrance on any occasion you have this season! I just truly do hope she finds the home she deserves.
This girl measures to approx UK size 8/10, would also work on a UK 6 nicely.
Bust - up to 34"
Waist - 27"
Length - 53"
For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.
The Tudor has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. Hand wash in cool water and drip dry or dry clean. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear, most notably some very minor snags on her skirt, see last photo, these really are unnoticeable and do not detract. Although she certainly is a Jean Varon dress, since she is unlabelled this has been hugely reflected in her price. With labels this dress would be priced over £200, I have seen these dresses sell for up to £300 in the past.
ALL vintage velvet comes with small signs of wear to the pile of the fabric. This is part of the charm.
This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.
