The Butterscotch

Meet Butterscotch, the dreamiest and rarest of them all! This gem is a super rare early Laura Ashley made in Wales dream. She is crafted in the most stunning hand printed cotton with a beautiful delicate white floral in a gorgeous soft honey shade. She dates from around 1972 as she was purchased as a bridesmaid dress, we acquired her from her original owner who kept her as a treasured keepsake all of these years.

Like all Laura Ashley dresses, she is crafted with no expenses spared and has a stunning silhouette which is made up of metres and metres of fabric. She has epic voluminous lantern sleeves, a button down bodice with high collar, a skirt which really speaks for itself and a beautiful matching waist tie.

Butterscotch is a true treasure to behold and will make someone VERY happy. She is an absolute investment piece and truly one of the best early Laura Ashley dresses we have sourced.

This girl would work on UK sizes 8/10 best, possibly could work on a UK 6 too.

Bust - 35" - 36"

Waist - 29" - 30"

Length -  56.5"

For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.

The Butterscotch has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. She can safely be washed at home on a cool setting. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear. At the top of her side zipper she has a small mend and she has a faint mark on one shoulder, see last two photos. These are both very minor and do not detract. Like all Laura Ashley dresses she has small flaws in her fabric due to the hand printing method used. These are absolutely to be expected. Her previous owner has also gently tacked in a popper button under her button front closure - I have left this as is, it can come in handy on this style of dress!

This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.

Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements.  Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
