Meet Charm, she is a stunning and HOLY GRAIL RARE 1960s Laura Ashley Made in Wales dream dress. She is beautifully crafted in a chunky and thick wale cotton corduroy in a berry purpley shade with an interesting print. Like all early Laura Ashley dresses, she has a huge swooshing skirt with flounce, honestly the swoosh is remarkable. She has a high collar with button front, long straight sleeves and a matching waist tie belt. Charm is just full of the vintage Charm that these Laura Ashley dresses carry, she is enriched in history and truly is a collectors piece. She truly is one of the best early LA's I have sourced to date. I can't quite wait to see where she is headed..
This girl would work on UK sizes 6/8 possibly small 10 best.
Bust - up to 35"
Waist - 28"
Length - 56.5"
For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.
The Charm has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. Dry Clean Only. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear.
ALL Early vintage Laura Ashley pieces come with signs of wear, and especially colour difference. This is just part and parcel of acquiring one of these treasures. In the early days, these dresses were hand printed in Wales, and the dyes are very different from commercial dyes that were used in later days. This beauty does have some areas of colour difference all round, with darker patches on the bodice, skirt and sleeves but to be honest, in my opinion, this does not detract and only just adds to the charm of such a precious Heirloom piece. They aren't hugely noticeable. Please be aware of this. Due to the nature of corduroy, this was extremely hard to photograph. I have hugely reflected this in her price, in pristine condition this dress is worth well over £300. She also has a small mark on the front of her skirt. See last photo - although again due to the nature of the fabric this was nearly impossible to photograph.
This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.
Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements. Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
