The Genevieve

The Genevieve, she is a stunning SUPER RARE late 60s/early 70s Gina Fratini prairie midaxi length dream. She is made from cotton, which I highly suspect is Liberty.

Genevieve is the most beautiful of them all! She is a very early example of Fratini's works, who later in her career ended up being one of Lady Diana's favourite designers. She has the most amazing contrasting prints, with a paisley bodice and hem, floral sleeves and a graphic printed skirt. She has AMAZING cotton lace trims and a velvet ribbon bow at her neck and tie at her waist. She fastens with buttons down her front and her silhouette is voluminous.  This beauty is truly a rare and very special piece indeed.

This girl would work on UK sizes 8/10 possibly a small 12 nicely.

Bust - 36" - 37"

Waist - 32" - does sit quite high, can be cinched in with her ribbon tie at the front of her waist.

Length -  49"

For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.

Genevieve has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. She can safely be washed at home on a cool setting. She is in good vintage condition, she does have some flaws, which have been dramatically reflected in her price. She has several small nibbles to the lower back of her skirt, which I have sealed with fusible facing, so they are secure and will not spread further, these are really barely noticeable, and in such a forgiving place, see last photo. She has very slight print fading under her arms, so faint, my camera couldn't pick it up. Her centre button on her waist under her ribbon ties has also been replaced. Without these flaws, this dress would be priced at £350 minimum.

This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.

Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements.  Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
