The Gilded Gold 1970s Maxi Coat

Gilded Gold is an absolutely iconic and mega rare Holy Grail standard 70s maxi coat by rare and coveted designer of the time Alistair Cowin. She is made from an absolutely stunning embossed gold velvet fabric with a damask print with a faux fur trim. Honestly, this is no ordinary vintage coat, this is a real piece of fashion history and something to be treasured for a lifetime. She has a stunning 1970s oversized lapel collar with faux double breasted button closure with stunning original heavy detailed buttons. She also has two small pockets. Her velvet is stunning and plush, while being firm and warm. The quality in her fabric is outstanding and honestly she is just iconic. I cannot wait to see where she carries on her next life.

This girl measures to approx a UK size 8/10, could also work on a UK size 6 oversized too.

Bust - 38"

Waist - 32" - 33"

Length -  51"

Sleeve from Underarm - 15.5"

Shoulder to Shoulder - 14"

For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.

Gilded Gold has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. Please have her dry cleaned or spot clean if needed. She is in good vintage condition, she does have some damage to her lining in places, but she is fully wearable and this does not detract. Her bottom left button is missing, but this was just decorative, and does not affect wear. This is truly a rare opportunity to own such a piece.

This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.

Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements.  Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
