The Parakeet

Meet Parakeet, she is a super stunning HOLY GRAIL RARE 1970s Samuel Sherman dream dress and she is beautiful crafted in a good weighted cotton to a stunning standard. This beauty is UNBELIEVABLE and truly is the most coveted and rare Sherman dress I have sourced to date. She has an unusual bright and bold bohemian colour palette and print and an amazing silhouette with puff sleeves, a scoop neck and a nipped in waist. Parakeet also has the most beautiful details, with a corset feature at her waist and a beautiful cotton lace trim around her neckline. It's dresses like Parakeet that are iconic to the era and they truly are so special. I have never found a Sherman dress which comes close to this one, and I can't wait for her to find the home she deserves.

This girl measures to approx UK size 6/8, could also work on a small waisted 10 too. These measurements can be adjusted slightly with her corset.

Bust - 35"

Waist - 27"

Length -  55"

For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.

The Parakeet has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. She can safely be washed at home on a cool setting. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear.

This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.

Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements.  Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
