The Winter Garden

Meet Winter Garden, she is a beautiful and truly rare 1970s wool and velvet dream dress by Annie Gough at Gemini, this is one of Annie's most collectible and coveted designs. Winter Garden is an absolute treasure to behold, and one of my most prized finds to date. She has a stunning almost kimono style cut, with beautiful cropped flared kimono sleeves, a stunning plunge neckline, a nipped in waist and a super full skirt. Her print is absolutely divine, her wool fabric is delicate and it really is truly beautiful. She has gorgeous green quilted velvet panelling around her neckline, cuffs, waist and skirt which just add all of the drama. Winter Garden is a lifetime piece, she is a forever dress and will always look so eternally stunning. I hope she finds the best home, as I truly will miss this dream dress..

This girl measures to approx UK size 6/8 small 10.

Bust - up to 34"

Waist - 27"

Length -  56"

For reference our mannequin, Norma, measures to a UK 6.

The Winter Garden has been freshly laundered and is ready to wear. Dry clean only. She is in good vintage condition, she has a few minor signs of wear, like pretty much all of these fine wool dresses she does have some small nibbles in places, I have sealed up all of the bigger ones with interfacing on the inside to keep them secure. They are very unnoticeable and minor, they are mainly around the lower half of the skirt, with a couple of smaller ones in other places. I have never found or even seen one of these dresses without these, she is around 50 years old, so it is to be expected. This has been reflected in her price, I have seen the same dress reach over £300 in the past. She also has a couple of faint marks to her velvet neckline, which are so faint I only noticed them under the bright lights!

This beauty has minimal signs of vintage wear, but please bear in mind that our pieces are true vintage, they’ve been danced in and they have been lived in, so all of our garments will carry your usual signs of vintage wear. Anything that we think is outside of what would class as usual vintage wear, we will state.

Here at Pansy we know vintage sizes are very different from modern sizes, and we pride ourselves on offering accurate measurements with approximate modern UK sizing to ensure a your Pansy purchases will be a good fit.
Although we do offer approx modern sizing it is also very helpful if you know your own measurements. If you are unsure of these, an easy way of estimating them is measuring one of your own garments, that fits well, laid flat. Measure in inches, across from pit to pit, flat across the waist and double both of these measurements.  Our length measurements are mostly taken from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
